Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the people of the state for their unwavering support during difficult times, declaring that he could feel their solidarity. Speaking at the inauguration of the rehabilitated Fire Service Station in Rumuodomanya, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Friday, Fubara acknowledged the people’s trust in his administration and emphasized that standing firm on the side of truth was crucial in these challenging times.

The governor’s remarks come in the wake of the Supreme Court’s reinstatement of the Martins Amaewhule-led members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who had been in conflict with the governor, as well as the dismissal of all elected local government chairmen in the state.

Fubara reassured the people that despite the ongoing political turmoil, his administration would continue to do what was right for the state, thanking God for the opportunity to serve. He particularly praised the people of Obio/Akpor for their continued support, adding that they were standing on the side of truth by backing his government.

In his address, Fubara highlighted the importance of the newly renovated fire station, stating that it was equipped to safeguard the lives and properties of Rivers residents, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to the people’s welfare.

During the event, Chief Hanny Woko, a former ally of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, also spoke, calling for an end to the ongoing political conflict. Woko expressed concern over the negative publicity surrounding Rivers State, urging the people to emulate the example of Lagos State, where political disputes were resolved quickly for the benefit of the people.

Woko appealed for unity and emphasized that no personal interests should overshadow the collective good of the state, urging Rivers people to put the state first. He also expressed confidence that Governor Fubara would successfully navigate the current crisis and complete his tenure in office.

Woko commended the governor for his progress in delivering projects and serving the people of Rivers State despite the distractions posed by political conflicts. He assured the governor of continued support from the people, noting that Rivers residents were committed to protecting democracy and ensuring that the state remained stable.

In his concluding remarks, Woko emphasized the importance of equity and fair play, calling for the opportunity for all ethnic groups in the state to serve and contribute to its development without disruption.
