A respected medical doctor, politician, and strategist, Okupe made notable contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape, including his roles as spokesperson to both former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. He also served as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, where his strategic influence played a significant part in the Labour Party’s efforts.

He also mentioned that while Okupe had resigned his membership due to principles, his invaluable advice and support for the party continued.
