President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigeria’s private sector leaders to venture into politics, believing that their expertise can drive the country’s growth and development. Tinubu made this call during a one-day official visit to Enugu State, where he inaugurated key projects initiated by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration.

Tinubu praised Governor Mbah for his vision and leadership, which he described as a model for modern governance. He noted that Mbah’s achievements in transforming Enugu, especially in security, education, and infrastructure, highlighted the importance of having private sector players in public office. According to the president, such leaders possess the skills necessary to manage public resources effectively and drive sustainable economic progress.

Mbah’s Vision for Enugu: Security and Economic Growth

During the visit, Tinubu commissioned several groundbreaking projects, including a state-of-the-art Command-and-Control Centre and 150 high-tech patrol vehicles to enhance state security. Mbah’s commitment to safety and infrastructural development, according to the president, was evident in these initiatives, which are designed to make Enugu a leading investment destination.

“The investments you are making in security and infrastructure will bring about rapid development,” Tinubu stated. “When you assure security, offer value for money, and guarantee safety, investors will be attracted. This is the right path for Enugu and for Nigeria.”

Mbah, who is also the founder of Pinnacle Oil and Gas, emphasized that his administration’s focus on security, education, and infrastructure was directly linked to his goal of turning Enugu into a $30 billion economy within the next 4 to 8 years. He also expressed his ambition to position Enugu among Nigeria’s top three states in terms of GDP.

“We are creating the conditions for exponential growth, with the understanding that no economy can thrive where criminality runs rampant,” Mbah said. “Our AI-enhanced security framework is crucial for ensuring safety and fostering economic prosperity. With round-the-clock surveillance across Enugu, we are giving both residents and investors the confidence they need.”

Enugu’s Transformational Projects: A Model for Development

During the visit, Tinubu also inaugurated 30 fully equipped Enugu Smart Green Schools, part of a larger initiative to construct 260 such schools across the state’s 260 wards. The president also launched the Enugu International Conference Centre, a multi-functional venue aimed at boosting business and tourism, and unveiled 90 newly completed urban roads in Enugu City.

These projects, along with the state’s enhanced security system, are central to Mbah’s plan to create a conducive environment for business, education, and tourism.

Tinubu reiterated the need for more private sector involvement in politics, citing Mbah as an exemplary leader who is reshaping Enugu with his business-oriented mindset.

“Private sector people like you are what Nigeria needs to move forward,” Tinubu concluded. “We need leaders who are capable of transforming our country, and it is clear that you are doing that here in Enugu.”

Building for the Future: Enugu’s Path to Growth

Governor Mbah’s ambitious plans for Enugu are aimed at making the state a model for Nigeria’s future, with a focus on economic diversification, innovation, and sustainable development. By leveraging technology, enhancing security, and improving education and infrastructure, Mbah aims to unlock Enugu’s full potential and attract more investments.

As Nigeria’s political landscape evolves, Tinubu’s call for private sector leaders to join politics serves as a crucial reminder that the country needs business-savvy leaders who can bring about the changes necessary for national growth. With more states like Enugu showing the benefits of such leadership, Nigeria may be on the path to a brighter, more prosperous future.
