The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of all 21 local government chairmanship positions and 239 ward councillor seats in the recently concluded local government elections in Kogi State. The results were announced by the Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Nda Eri, on Sunday in Lokoja, the state capital.

According to Eri, the APC candidates secured victories in every local government area and ward across the state, with results collated from the respective local government headquarters and wards confirming the party’s clean sweep. The election, which took place on Saturday, was described as peaceful, transparent, and credible by the electoral commission.

“The process leading up to the election was transparent, and the conduct on election day was very peaceful, fair, and credible,” Eri said. He also praised the people of Kogi State for coming out in large numbers to exercise their democratic rights, further commending the electorate for their peaceful conduct throughout the election.

Joseph Aremu, the spokesperson for the Forum of the Chairmen of all State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs), who monitored the election, also praised KOSIEC for its effective handling of the electoral process. He commended the voters and noted that the election was conducted without any incidents of violence.

The peaceful outcome of the election and the complete victory for the APC highlights the party’s strong influence in Kogi State as the state prepares for further elections.
