Kano, Nigeria – The joint security operation in Kano has committed to strictly obeying the Federal High Court Order, SUIT No. FHC/KN/CS/182/2024, dated May 23, 2024. This resolution was announced during an emergency press conference on Saturday by Police Commissioner Mohammed Usaini Gumel.

Security Agencies to Enforce Court Order

Commissioner Gumel emphasized the collaborative efforts of the police, military, and other security agencies to maintain peace and order in Kano. He stated, “We are here to update you on the security situation, particularly regarding the chieftaincy affairs of the state.”

He assured the public that security forces are fully equipped to provide adequate security and are dedicated to fulfilling their constitutional duties. “The law-abiding people of Kano State, known for their cultural heritage and respect for authorities, are advised to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as the court addresses the matter on June 3, 2024,” he added.

Warning Against Disruption of Peace

Commissioner Gumel issued a stern warning to those planning to disrupt the state’s peace, stating, “Anyone found attempting to jeopardize the existing security settings in the state will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.”

He highlighted the police command’s leadership role among security agencies to sustain peace and prevent any violent actions. “Miscreants should avoid any form of violence and not exploit the current situation to launch unprovoked attacks on people, property, or infrastructure,” Gumel warned.

Commitment to Public Safety

The combined security agencies in Kano have mobilized to ensure no breakdown of law and order. “The safety and security of all inhabitants in the state remain sacrosanct,” Commissioner Gumel concluded, reassuring the public of their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace.

This firm stance by the Kano security forces underscores their dedication to upholding the law and protecting the citizens amidst ongoing chieftaincy disputes.
