Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has taken decisive action, vowing to initiate a thorough probe into the activities of the state government over the past eight years. Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Dagogo Iboroma as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Fubara charged Iboroma with promptly establishing an inquiry panel to scrutinize the government’s actions during the specified period.
In a related development, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with Governor Fubara vehemently condemned the October 29, 2023, attack and subsequent burning of the assembly’s chamber by hoodlums. Led by factional Speaker Rt. Hon. Oko-Jumbo, the lawmakers expressed their gratitude for the swift intervention of Governor Fubara, which facilitated the resumption of legislative functions.
The House further disclosed the nomination of Iboroma as commissioner-designate by Governor Fubara. Iboroma, in his screening before the House, pledged allegiance to the Constitution of Nigeria and assured his commitment to upholding his oath of office while contributing his expertise to the state’s governance.
Following a debate and voting process, the House affirmed its confidence in Iboroma and confirmed his appointment as commissioner in the State Executive Council. Rt. Hon. Oko-Jumbo instructed the factional Clerk of the House to convey the resolution to Governor Fubara, expressing gratitude for his support in facilitating legislative activities amidst the challenges faced.
