Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has pointed fingers at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, accusing him of orchestrating the heightened political unrest in Rivers State.
Secondus challenged Wike to provide an account of the funds he purportedly received from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for Ogoni oil wells during his tenure as Rivers State governor.
According to Secondus’ spokesperson, Ike Abonyi, these allegations arise amidst Wike’s ongoing conflicts with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom Secondus claims has effectively managed state revenues, thus obstructing Wike’s access.
Secondus asserted that Wike’s continuous media attacks on Governor Fubara and other state leaders are deliberate attempts to undermine the state’s peace and progress.
Furthermore, Secondus criticized Wike’s unwarranted media assaults on Rivers’ political figures, labeling them as diversionary tactics.
He highlighted Wike’s purported threat to instigate crisis, emphasizing the destabilizing impact of his actions on Rivers State, despite support from figures like himself and Mrs. Patience Jonathan during his governorship campaign.
Secondus urged President Bola Tinubu to caution Wike against further exacerbating the political climate in Rivers State, urging him to respect Governor Fubara’s mandate and prioritize the welfare of the electorate.
