Africa’s wealthiest individual and President of the Aliko Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, launched a significant initiative on Saturday aimed at distributing 120,000 bags of rice to approximately one million underprivileged individuals across all 44 local government councils in Kano State.

Addressing the gathering at the State Government House, Dangote disclosed that the total cost of food items allocated for distribution to the 774 local government areas in Nigeria amounted to N15 billion. Kano State was designated to receive 120,000 bags of rice, with the remainder to be shared among the remaining LGAs nationwide.

“This noble effort is our response to the prevailing economic challenges in our nation, underscoring our commitment to supporting our communities in alignment with our fundamental principles,” stated Dangote.

He emphasized the urgency of providing immediate relief to those in need and outlined plans to expand the distribution to all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, aiming to benefit as many Nigerians as possible.

Dangote further elucidated, “This rice distribution initiative is a testament to our dedication to the values of compassion and solidarity that define our humanity. It supplements our existing feeding programs, including the daily feeding of 10,000 vulnerable individuals in Kano State, which we have sustained since 1990.”

Expressing gratitude for Dangote’s generosity, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the donated items on behalf of the state and urged other affluent individuals to emulate Dangote’s philanthropy.

“I am deeply honored to acknowledge the generosity of our esteemed brother, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, whose donation of 120,000 bags of rice during this auspicious month of Ramadan will alleviate the suffering of vulnerable members of our community. This act of kindness epitomizes the unity and compassion we must foster, especially during these trying times,” remarked Governor Yusuf.

He commended Dangote’s consistent support for Kano State during periods of need and emphasized the significance of collective efforts in addressing the challenges faced by many Nigerians.
