The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cautioned residents of Rivers State against getting involved in political conflicts without understanding the root causes. Wike delivered this warning during a thanksgiving ceremony for George Kelly Alabo, the immediate past Commissioner for Works, at the Kings’ Assembly in Port Harcourt.

In video clips shared on the PDP Press Corp Platform, Wike emphasized the importance of understanding the reasons behind political disputes before taking sides. He highlighted the significance of adhering to rules in various aspects of life, comparing it to his tenure as governor when he followed established rules.

Wike also addressed the recent stance of Rivers Elders, criticizing the representation of only two individuals as elders for the entire state. He dismissed their authority and urged people not to be swayed by such claims.

Furthermore, the FCT Minister questioned the agitation in the region, particularly those associating it with the Ijaw ethnic group. He pointed out that during his gubernatorial campaign, there was no emphasis on ethnic identity, and he expressed skepticism about the current emphasis on Ijaw sentiments.

Wike revealed that during discussions with President Buhari, they were given guidance on how to proceed, but the larger house’s decision is now being questioned. He urged people to be informed about the situation and not be misled by those misinterpreting the constitutional rights of the President.
