The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that it is currently investigating some former governors, former ministers, and ministry officials based on petitions it has received. The spokesperson of the commission, Mr. Dele Oyewale, also stated that investigations are ongoing in relation to various allegations involving these individuals. The EFCC is committed to pursuing these cases, and details of their involvement will be made public in due course.
Additionally, the EFCC disclosed that it has made significant progress in its investigations and has recovered substantial amounts of money. In three separate cases, the commission has recovered N27,184,357,524 and $19,084,419. These funds were connected to various fraudulent activities and are being pursued through recovery efforts. The EFCC is also actively working on other cases, such as agricultural procurement fraud and diversion of funds meant for power projects, with the recovery of properties purchased with these funds.
The EFCC is focused on its mandate to combat corruption, prevent fraudulent activities, and assess risks, and it continues to intensify its efforts in these areas.
