Abubakar Kyari, the deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been appointed as the acting chairman of the party. Festus Fuanter, the deputy national secretary, has also assumed the role of acting national secretary.

These decisions were made during an emergency meeting of the party’s national working committee (NWC) following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu as the party’s chairman. The appointments are in accordance with the party’s constitution.

Abubakar Kyari addressed the media at the APC national secretariat in Abuja after the three-hour meeting. He stated that Adamu and Omisore resigned voluntarily. He announced, “The NWC wishes to inform you of the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu CON and that of the national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore CON.”

He further explained that as the deputy national chairman (north), it is his responsibility to assume the position of acting chairman, while Festus Fuanter, the deputy national secretary, will serve as the acting national secretary of the APC.
