The Concerned Northern Forum (CNF) has demanded the arrest and investigation of Hadi Sirika, the former Aviation Minister, in relation to the Nigerian Air scandal. The CNF’s chairman, Ali Mohammed, issued a statement expressing their concerns. The call for Sirika’s arrest comes after Captain Dapo Olumide, the interim Managing Director of Nigeria Air, revealed during his appearance before the Senate Committee on Aviation that the aircraft used for the unveiling of Nigeria Air was rented from Ethiopian Airlines.
The CNF criticized the lack of transparency surrounding the unveiling of Nigeria Air, stating that no detailed information was provided, and there were no eyewitness accounts of the aircraft or its features. Olumide also stated that the airline had not obtained an operating license for full flight operations, contradicting Sirika’s earlier claims.
The CNF alleges that Sirika’s insistence on proceeding with the unveiling, despite a court order against it, demonstrates deception, corruption, and personal financial gain amounting to billions of naira. They argue that this breach of trust and disregard for the rule of law should not go unpunished, and Sirika must face legal consequences.
The CNF accuses Sirika of acting with impunity, refusing to listen to advice from aviation experts and the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), who advised against the Nigeria Air project. They consider the project a waste of resources and a national embarrassment.
The CNF calls on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to immediately arrest and investigate Sirika. They also urge President Tinubu not to consider Sirika for any ministerial position or appointment in his administration.
The CNF insists that the EFCC should not delay in taking action, as they believe Sirika and his accomplices have deceived and brought shame upon Nigeria. They demand a thorough investigation and accountability regarding the Nigeria Air project.
