Anthony Joshua, the Nigerian-British boxer, won a unanimous decision over Jermaine Franklin, the American boxer, on Saturday night.
Joshua was declared the victor after 12 rounds of hard competition at the O2 Arena in London.
Joshua won the fight with scores of 118-111, 117-111, and 117-111 from the three judges.
After suffering two consecutive losses against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, the former world champion won his first match since 2020.
Joshua was defeated by Usyk on September 25, 2021. On August 21, 2022, the British boxer was defeated by his Ukrainian counterpart for the second time.
Joshua’s most recent victory occurred on December 13, 2020 against Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria.
Joshua denied Franklin his 25th career victory in their most recent fight, which was characterised by the typical jabs and blows.
Joshua’s victory appeared to be the start of his quest to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.
He also improved his career record to 25-3.
After his victory over Franklin, Joshua appeared to have his sights set on a monumental bout against Tyson Fury.
“I attempt to provide for my fans. I am aware of who they seek. The ball is now in Tyson Fury’s court,” he stated.
“I would be honoured to compete for the WBC Heavyweight World Championship.
“If he is listening, he knows my promoter; we have previously conversed, so let’s continue. We are not growing younger.”
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, stated, “We desire the Fury bout. We believe it can be made. The nature of the victory has always been significant, but he has the right to challenge Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder.
