After a gruelling campaign, Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect, has travelled to Europe to relax, according to Tunde Rahman, his media adviser.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Rahman stated that Tinubu had left Lagos on Tuesday night for Paris in order to recuperate and prepare for the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia and the beginning of Ramadan on Thursday.

According to Rahman, Tinubu will also use the time to design his transition programme while he is out of the country.

“After the gruelling campaign and election season, the president-elect decided to recover in Paris and London before travelling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (lesser hajj) and Ramadan fasting, which begins Thursday,” Rahman said.

“During his absence, the president-elect will also organise his transition programme.

“His return to the country is imminent.

“We urge the media to refrain from spreading rumours and baseless assertions and to seek clarifications from our office at all times.”
