Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State and candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, has been proclaimed the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Sunday, the State INEC Resident Electoral Commission, Tella Adeniran, announced that Makinde had won the election.

Senator Teslim Folarin, Makinde’s closest competitor and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, received 256,684 votes.

Also, he won in 31 of the state’s 33 local government districts.

Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was proclaimed the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Prof. Kayode Adebowale, the state returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), pronounced the APC candidate the winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in Ogun State.

Abiodun received 276,298 votes to defeat his closest competitors: Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 263,383 votes, and Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who received 94,754 votes and has the support of the former governor and current APC senator, Ibikunle Amosun.

Adebowale stated, “Abiodun Adedapo Oluseun of the APC, having satisfied the standards of the law, is proclaimed the winner and is returned to office.”
