The name of Ado Doguwa, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, has been deleted off the list of elected House of Representatives members by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Doguwa, a member of the All Progressives Congress, was previously declared the winner of the February 25 election in the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency by INEC.

He received 39,732 votes to defeat Yushau Salisu Abdullahi of the New Nigeria People’s Party, who received 34,798 votes.

But, Doguwa was soon arrested for his claimed role in the recent election-related murders and burning of the New Nigeria People’s Party’s headquarters.

The Kano chief magistrates’ court remanded him to prison custody on Wednesday.

INEC did not include his name on the list of elected members.

INEC stated that Doguwa’s election result was a “declaration made under duress.”
