Supreme Court Confirms Ahmed Lawan as Candidate For 2023 Yobe North Senatorial district

On Monday, the Supreme Court confirmed Ahmed Lawan, the president of Nigeria’s senate, as the legitimate All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2023 Yobe North Senatorial district election.

In the leading opinion, Justice Centus Nweze criticized Bashir Machina’s strategy of initiating the lawsuit at the Federal High Court Damaturu division via summons and without oral evidence to support charges of fraud.
