Cabals in Presidential Villa Working against Tinubu’s Victory -Governor Nasir El-Rufai

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has stated that certain elements in Nigeria’s Presidential Villa are working against All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

Additionally, the governor disclosed that the persons had a candidate for the APC presidential primary, but that candidate was unable to win.

El-Rufai announced this on Wednesday while answering questions on the Sunrise Daily program on Channels Television.

The governor stated that these separate factors are concealed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire to do what he believes is right.

He stated, “I believe there are sections within the Villa who wish for us to lose the election because they did not get their way; they had their candidate. Their nominee lost the primary election.

“They are attempting to cause us to lose the election by hiding behind the president’s determination to do what he believes is right. I would provide two examples: this petroleum subsidy, which costs the country trillions of Naira, was promised to be eliminated by all parties. In fact, I had a conversation with the president and demonstrated why it had to be eliminated. Because how is it possible to have a N200 billion capital budget for federal roads and then spend N2 trillion on petroleum subsidies? This was a discussion I had with the president in 2021, when the subsidy issue began to escalate. He was persuaded. We departed. It evolved. Everyone in government agreed, and the policy was altered.

“The second illustration I will provide is the redesign of the currency. You must comprehend the president. People are criticizing the Central Bank Governor for the redesign of the currency, but No. You must examine Buhari’s first public appearance as president. He did this; the Buhari, Idiagbon dictatorship changed our currency in secret with the intention of arresting individuals hiding illegal monies. It is a very noble goal. The president is correct. However, doing it now and within the allowed time frame makes no political or economic sense.”
