President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Daura, Katsina state, in preparation for the presidential election scheduled for Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The President, who was greeted on Thursday by the Katsina State Governor, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, will vote with his wife, Aisha Buhari, and other family members at a polling station close to their home in Daura.

According to a statement made by the president’s spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose helicopter landed at 5:25 p.m. in Daura in preparation for the elections, will participate not as a candidate, as he has since 2003, but as a voter.

Recognizing the significance of each vote, the President ensures that every member of his family, entourage, security, protocol, and other employees are registered to vote in Daura.

President Buhari had earlier this week actively participated in the campaigns of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presented Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his preferred successor, highlighting his record of statesmanship and contributions to economic development and democracy, before returning home for the elections.
