The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has paused rail service to allow Nigerians to vote in the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday.
The NRC announced Wednesday that the temporary stoppage of train operations will occur from February 25 to February 27, 2023.
The lines suspended are Abuja–Kaduna, Warri–Itakpe, Lagos–Ibadan, and the Iddo Lagos–Ijoko train service, according to the statement written by the Corporation’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Yakub Mahmood.
“However, the management promises the public that normal train service will resume on February 28, 2023,” the statement continued.
Parts of the country have been without train service for the past year due to attacks and derailments.
