Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed all political aides with immediate effect, in a sweeping restructuring aimed at improving governance and service delivery. The move dissolves the current cadre of Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants across the state administration.

Governor Orders Immediate Dissolution of Aide Structure

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the removal of all political aides serving in his administration, marking a significant shake-up in the Ondo State Government.

The directive affects all categories of political aides, including Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, effectively dismantling the existing support structure within the executive arm.

The decision was disclosed in an official statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.

Move Aimed at Boosting Efficiency

According to the statement, the mass dismissal is part of a broader effort to enhance operational efficiency and improve service delivery across the state.

“In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, the governor has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement said.

The government acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing aides and extended best wishes for their future pursuits.

Plans to Appoint 1,000 New Aides

Despite the sweeping dismissal, the governor signalled plans for a large-scale reappointment process. Approximately 1,000 new aides are expected to be recruited to strengthen administrative coordination and introduce fresh capacity into governance.

The new appointments, according to the statement, will be distributed across all 203 wards in the state’s 18 local government areas, reflecting an effort to broaden grassroots representation.

Strategic Repositioning of Administration

The overhaul is seen as part of a strategic repositioning of the Aiyedatiwa administration, aimed at improving governance outcomes and aligning political support structures with current priorities.

Observers say the restructuring could reshape political engagement at the local level while redefining how the state government delivers services to citizens.
