The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, wanted over allegations of financial misconduct involving more than $14.8 million.

In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday evening, the anti-graft agency revealed that Sylva is under investigation for an alleged conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257—funds reportedly invested by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for refinery construction.

According to the EFCC, a Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice D.I. Dipeolu, granted a warrant for Sylva’s arrest on November 6, 2025. The court order authorizes EFCC officials, the police, or any other law enforcement agency to apprehend Sylva and present him before the Commission to answer to the alleged offences.

The Commission has appealed to members of the public with credible information about the former minister’s whereabouts to report to any EFCC zonal office, the nearest police station, or other security agencies.
