The Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori, officially assumed office on Monday with a rallying call for unity, internal reforms, and renewed grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at his first meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) at the APC national headquarters in Abuja, Dalori emphasized the need for the party to consolidate its structures, enhance internal discipline, and remain focused on delivering good governance.

“This is a period for consolidation — not conflict. For maturity — not division. And for vision — not personal ambition,” Dalori told party leaders, pledging to lead with transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose.

Dalori succeeds Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped down on health grounds. He praised Ganduje’s tenure, noting the former chairman’s contributions in providing the APC with “experienced leadership and a clear sense of direction” since August 2023.

In his address, Dalori urged party members and stakeholders to begin early preparations for the 2027 polls by strengthening internal party structures and reconnecting with the grassroots across all levels. “We must begin now to strengthen our internal processes, reconnect with our grassroots, and re-energise our structures across all levels,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the APC’s unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a “living roadmap” tackling Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. “The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation,” Dalori said.

Recognizing the tendency for internal crises during leadership transitions, Dalori cautioned against divisive rhetoric. “Political transitions often create uncertainty, but we must not allow it to breed disunity. We must focus on what binds us — our shared belief in the promise of Nigeria and the future of the APC.”

He also announced plans to unveil a detailed interim roadmap, focused on party discipline, reconciliation, strategic communication, member mobilisation, and stakeholder engagement. He further emphasized the importance of aligning party operations with the APC Constitution, code of conduct, and internal guidelines.

Closing his speech, Dalori appealed for renewed loyalty from all members, stressing unity and service. “Let us work together with sincerity, courage, and faith in our mission. Let us honour the past, serve the present, and prepare for a brighter future — as one united and determined APC family.”
