Alex Iwobi, a midfielder with the Super Eagles, has detailed what transpired at Arsenal before his departure.

The Nigerian international stated that his family helped him maintain his sanity after receiving criticism from Arsenal supporters.

Iwobi, a product of the Arsenal system, left the club in the summer of 2019 for £35 million and a five-year contract with Everton.

“When I was playing for Arsenal, many individuals questioned my skills. The midfielder, now a regular for Everton, told Premier League Productions that the criticism was excessive.

Iwobi praised his father for always being there for him and preparing him for the difficulties of playing for a major club like Arsenal.

“However, my family stood by my side. My father insisted that I am at such a large club for a reason and should continue working diligently. He helped me overcome such harsh criticism,” he continued.

The Nigerian midfielder stated that he has come to terms with the idea that there will always be detractors and has resolved to perform his best.
