Ahead of the 2027 general elections, political allies of former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), are rallying under a renewed vision for national unity and development. During a courtesy visit to his Hilltop residence in Minna by The Nigerian Project (TNP), a fast-growing political movement, Babangida reiterated his unwavering belief in a united and prosperous Nigeria.
The former leader emphasized that national progress is impossible without unity, urging Nigerians to remain loyal to the country and its leadership. He advocated for inclusive governance, where citizens’ voices are heard, ideas debated, and policies implemented for collective advancement.
“I believe in one Nigeria, and on its unity, I stand. Thank you for following my footsteps and upholding the ideals of patriotism and national unity, which we all fought for,” Babangida told the TNP delegation.
TNP’s Vision for a New Nigeria
The National Convener of TNP, Ochiagha Reagan Ufomba, described the organization as Nigeria’s fastest-growing political movement, with structures across all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and all 774 Local Government Areas. Ufomba highlighted TNP’s commitment to reviving the ideals, philosophies, and doctrines that once made Nigeria a great nation.
“We are committed to fostering national discourse, ensuring inclusivity, and breaking barriers to intellectual and economic empowerment,” Ufomba stated. He also emphasized TNP’s dedication to electoral reforms, ensuring that votes count and restoring faith in Nigeria’s democratic process.
Ufomba praised Babangida’s leadership legacy, particularly his role in presiding over Nigeria’s freest and fairest election. He called for a return to a two-party democratic system and a holistic reform of the electoral process, describing it as essential for national progress.
IBB’s Political Legacy and TNP’s Role in 2027
Founded in 2007 as Babangida’s political structure, TNP has evolved into a mass movement advocating patriotism, loyalty, and national development. With renewed momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, the group is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s political future.
As the countdown to 2027 begins, TNP’s focus on unity, inclusivity, and electoral integrity positions it as a key player in Nigeria’s quest for sustainable development and democratic excellence.
