Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has implemented a minor cabinet reshuffle, as confirmed in a statement released by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, on Tuesday evening. The reshuffle, effective immediately, involves key appointments within the state government.

According to the statement, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, previously serving as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office). Prof. Adangor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, brings his expertise to this new role.

Furthermore, Isaac Kamalu, the former Commissioner for Finance, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment. Kamalu’s experience in finance will now contribute to initiatives aimed at fostering employment opportunities and economic empowerment within the state.

Governor Fubara’s decision to reshuffle his cabinet comes amidst political challenges, particularly from factions within the state. The governor has been navigating pressures from political opponents, notably those aligned with his godfather, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The statement emphasized that the affected officials are required to promptly hand over their duties to their respective Permanent Secretaries, ensuring a smooth transition process. Danagogo reiterated that the reshuffle takes immediate effect, underscoring the urgency of the transition.

This strategic realignment reflects Governor Fubara’s commitment to optimizing governance and addressing emerging priorities within Rivers State. As the administration continues to navigate political dynamics, the reshuffle aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivering government services to the people of Rivers State.
