Mmesoma Ejikeme has confessed to manipulating her results in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) after claiming to be the highest scorer. A panel set up by Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State investigated the matter and revealed that Mmesoma admitted to altering her original score of 249 to 362 using a device and a manipulated printout.

The panel’s report stated that Mmesoma, the Principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, and officials from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) were invited for an interactive session. JAMB officials presented the procedures involved in JAMB admissions and highlighted the multiple requests Mmesoma made for her results. Each time, she received the correct score of 249, but she later submitted a different result with an aggregate score of 362.

The report also highlighted red flags, such as discrepancies in date of birth, registration number, and the use of an outdated notification of results template. Mmesoma admitted to manipulating the results by herself using her phone and printing them at a cybercafé.

When asked for her reason behind manipulating the results, Mmesoma claimed there was no specific motive.

As a recommendation, the committee advised Mmesoma to issue an unreserved apology to JAMB, her school, and the Anambra State Government. They also suggested that she undergo psychological counseling and therapy.
