Senate Majority Leader Orji Uzor Kalu has announced his intention to run for senate president.

Tuesday in Abuja, the senator representing Abia north, Kalu, stated that he would work for “every corner” of the country.

The former governor of Abia stated that he is eager to continue interacting directly with Nigerians even as the presiding officer of the upper legislative house, adding that Nigerians should pray for him to be elected because “it is my turn.”

He stated, “If I am elected senate president, I would work for all of Nigeria.”

“I attended classes in Maiduguri, Borno state. I began my business in Lagos and then expanded to all state capitals. My first and last names will both be team Nigeria.

“Remember, I am the only governor who has never changed their phone number in the twenty-four years since I became governor. I am willing to continue using that telephone number for all future calls. I will not turn off my phones since I am now president of the Senate.

It’s my turn to become senate president, so I’m hoping Nigerians will pray for my election.

Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, popularised the slogan “it is my turn” in the run-up to the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

The tenth national assembly will be inaugurated in June, following a proclamation from the president.
