The All Progressives Party (APC) presidential campaign council’s agro commodities directorate has sworn to defend Bola Tinubu’s election by “any means necessary.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu the victor of the presidential election after he received 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) with 6,101,533 votes.

Atiku and Obi have petitioned the presidential election tribunal to overturn Tinubu’s victory.

Saturday at a press conference in Abuja, Bello Abubakar, the directorate’s chief, attributed Tinubu’s victory to his “proved records” as governor.

“Let’s be clear: the president and vice president-elect hold the mandate of the nation. The mandate is based on their track records in Lagos and Borno states, their administrative prowess over the years, and their enduring patriotism,” Abubakar explained.

“We urged individuals who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the election to utilize the courts as stipulated by the constitution and to do so peacefully.

“Violence pays nobody. Being the largest voting bloc in Nigeria, we support H.E. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate and will defend it by all means necessary.”

Shehu Muazu, a member of the PCC and the national coordinator of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, stated that the federal government should pay farmers for losses caused by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s currency policy (CBN).

Muazu stated, “We have a president-elect who has not yet taken office.”

“But, the directorate would want to call on the president, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari – now that the supreme court has spoken and we all know the repercussions of that decision, we are not arguing that anyone should be punished; rather, we should be kind as instructed by our superior.

“Yet, we urge the federal government of today to implement policies that will assist in mitigating the losses suffered by farmers.”
